Francois, a sculptor, and Bernard, an engineer, have collaborated on their creations since 1952. Their sculptures are formed using stainless steel or aluminum and often interact with either wind or water.54“The president of the University of California at Santa Barbara came to my home one night for dinner. And when she saw this piece, she said, ‘Mr. Bermant, I have to have this in my home on the campus. Please lend it to me.’ So I loaned it to her, and she kept it for three years. When she finally left, I got back my piece. I won’t do that again. But I know she enjoyed it. She put it in her garden right at the entrance to her home. It’s a very lovely piece.”
