“David was very important in the direction of my work . . . I was able to continue to develop many Lightworks with his encouragement and funding, to bring ideas to reality. It was remarkable that I could explain to him by phone many concepts that he would approve for me to build. Many works were tricky to develop, and his patience was crucial in letting me have a chance to improve and revise my technology. The main quest was to make works that were reliable to operate, especially for outdoors. Many artists that worked with David benefited in developing their technology likeI did. Many first working prototypes were commissioned by him in assorted technological media. He was very sharp with his comments, and you had to be very careful . . . It was not easy to deal with him, but also was lots of fun.”—Alejandro Siñaopposite:ALEJANDRo & MoIRA SIÑA Lasso199996”H x 36”DLeft:ALEJANDRo SIÑA Night Butterfly1978120”H x 72”W x72”D21“Never fails to elicit a ‘WoW’ from any viewer the slightest bit alive.”
